About

Before life as a counsellor and psychotherapist, I was consumed by all matters of food. Whether I was baking for hours, catering for multitudes or managing businesses, my enthusiasm for food has left an unforgettable imprint on all of my senses. I still get enormous joy from preparing and sharing food with friends. This is my way to stay connected with people and be present in my surroundings.

Since 2008 my professional focus has been on counselling and psychotherapy where I have developed a collaborative approach to therapy that includes Humanistic and Mindfulness practices. This approach allows me to explore the best ways forward in assisting you to take responsibility for your lived experiences. The trust that is built within our therapeutic relationship is core to the quality of the counselling process. Life can be overwhelming and painful at times. Counselling allows you a safe space to explore your concerns and views of the world. Counselling can help you to identify, understand and manage these concerns and views that may impact on the choices you are making. Changing the choices you make can improve the overall quality of your life.

Counselling can improve your awareness of how to better manage difficult times in your life. Through our counselling process we will work towards building healthier relationships, cultivating ways of being in your own life that deliver better outcomes and learn how you can experience your own freedom, love, health and happiness.

I work with individuals, couples and groups that may be questioning their relationships, intimacy or sexual health; managing addictions and recovery the ongoing recovery; and confronted by everyday anxieties that may have grown out of past traumatic events and life transitions. I passionate and informed in working with people from lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) communities. Over the past four years I have been fortunate to work more intensively with the transgender community.

My time is shared between private practice in Sydney and counselling at ACON's Newcastle office. I am also passionate about working with our older LGBTI community members and currently coordinate ACON's LOVE Project (Living Older Visibly and Engaged).

  • You have helped me work through so much, never giving me the answers but I know that's not your role. You have helped me work through the issues as they have arisen whilst helping me to maintain a degree of focus on the long-term objectives. You have given me the confidence to take action and get my life back on track.
