why counselling?

People seek counselling for a variety of reason, but fundamentally its for personal growth, which may manifest in many ways. Some of the reason my clients have sought counselling include;

  • Depression and anxiety
  • LGBTQ+ lived experiences
  • Affirming gender diversity & identities
  • Relationships & intimacy
  • Living with HIV & sexual health
  • Healthy Ageing and Life Transitions

  • Improving social connection

  • Informed Trauma Responses

What is counselling?

Counselling generally focuses on short-term difficulties about a specific crisis or issue and exploring solutions to enable you to manage these difficulties. The number of counselling sessions will vary from person to person. The strength and safety developed in out theraputic relationship, the nature of your concerns and your committment to exploring new ways of being in your life are all factors that determine the number of sessions. Longer-term engagement offers an opportunity to explore and reflect more deeply on the full landscape of your life. A longer process may allow you to develop stronger self-awareness helping you understand, integrate and transform life's challenges.
